Masurian Wonder of Nature - the Final Round

On 14th of September 2011 in Warsaw we held a press conference announcing the Final Round of voting on the Masurian Lake District in Poland and abroad. We wanted to remind media about the campaign and to appeal for a support in our effort to publicize the voting, especially when we are so close to the deadline.

Apart from Marshal Jacek Protas and Rafał Szmytke – Chairman of Polish Tourism Organization, we invited representatives of governmental institutions who presented their input in the campaign and arguments why it is important not only for the region, but also for the Polish people and the country:

Aleksandra Piątkowska – Director, Departament of Public and Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
Zbigniew Włodkowski – Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education;
Katarzyna Sobierajska – Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Sport and Tourism
Jan Korsak – President of the Polish Chamber of Tourism.
And Polish celebrities: Norbi and Krzysztof Jaworski – artists, who created Masurian Anthem.

The national media were welcomed by the video-statement of Jacek Palkiewicz – honorary Ambassador of the Masurian, world-wide known reporter, explorer, discoverer of the Amazon’s source, who said: “Masurian Lake District is not inferior to our competitors on the final list of 28 candidates to the title of the next miracle of nature in any way! If Polish people will understand the significance of the wonder which the Masurian District really is, the final is our range.”

“Participation in the poll became a national issue. I am grateful that so many important people in Poland – Marshals and members of the Parliament, Polish Presidents, governmental institutions, public and clerical people, supported the initiative which is crucial for every Pole. I thank artists, journalist and celebrities who joined us. It is a spontaneous symbol of goodwill for the unique region, where you can really commune with nature, which is so rare in Europe. I ask for an active engaging in the campaign promotion” – said Marshal Jacek Protas.

In the Final Round we want to realize 10 serious projects, mobilizing Poles in the country and abroad and other nations. We combined our strengths with the institutions responsible for tourism development – Polish Chamber of Tourism and The Polish Tourism Organization and Polish church. Along with the campaign we invest in environmental protection and infrastructure.“We cooperate abroad with the Polish embassies, e.g. Slovenia, Italy and China. Masurian Lake District can become the symbol of Poland in the world, next to the pope John Paul II” – said Radoslaw Zawadzki, Director, Departament of  Coordination, Marshal’s Office for the Promotion of Warmia and Mazury.

We announced Final Round on 15.09.2011 – a day called the World Day of Voting for Masuria. It includes:
Encouraging actions organized by the Polish Tourism Organization foreign offices (during the conference we connected live with the office in Tokio, to see that Japanese people honestly appreciate the beauty of the Polish region).
Voting for the Mazury in the Polish Parliament by the deputies, senators and other representatives of the Government.
Voting for the Mazury in schools by students and teachers in Poland and in Polish schools abroad (action supported by the Ministry of Education).
Mazury Truck Tour – special bus with exhibition of 3D images inside and the voting point stand, which will start its journey through Poland in Warsaw.
